22-10-2012 - ITALY-SARDINIA RALLY - Luca Pedersoli takes home one point at the Sardinia World Rally

Olbia, October 18th – 21st, 2012

A careful race, made difficult by more than 300 km of timed special trials on unpaved roads that, after a four-day long competition, allowed the Magneti Marelli Checkstar team crew to conquer one point in the Rallies World Championship, competing with courage and determination against the greatest champions in this specialty.

These were “Pede”’s words right after the race: exhausted, but happy, together with his co-driver Matteo Romano: "Although we were extremely careful during the race, we risked quite a bit on Sardinia’s narrow and very fast roads, precisely because we were not familiar with the route and the trials were very long and full of dangers. In any event, the DS3 WRC gave me all the opportunities I was looking for, and the support provided by Citroën Racing was crucial in order to perform a conservative race that would leave some margin for correction in case of mistakes”.

The competition, won by the other Citroën DS3 WRC driven by Mikko Hirvonen, was very selective, with the finish line being crossed by only a little more than half of the original participants, betrayed by a route that was as beautiful as it was hazardous”.
